Pastor Chris Okafor Kneels in Church, Publicly Apologises to Nollywood Actress Doris Ogala Amid Marriage Promise Saga.
In a dramatic turn of events, Pastor Chris Okafor, founder of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries (also known as Grace Nation), took to his pulpit on Sunday to issue a heartfelt public apology to Nollywood actress Doris Ogala.
The cleric went down on his knees before his congregation, seeking forgiveness for what he described as "mistakes made in the past" while addressing the intense controversy surrounding their alleged relationship.
The apology comes after weeks of heated public exchanges. Doris Ogala had accused Pastor Chris Okafor of promising to marry her after a relationship that she claims began in 2017. She alleged that she ended her previous marriage on his encouragement, only to feel betrayed when he recently wed another woman, identified as Pearl.
The actress went further, demanding N1 billion in damages through her lawyers for emotional distress and breach of promise, and the dispute even led to her brief arrest before she was released.During the church service, Pastor Okafor directly addressed the issue without diving into a back-and-forth. "Mistakes have been made in the past, and I tender an apology to everybody," he said, adding that not all the allegations against him were true. Still, he extended personal remorse: "To Doris Ogala, I am so sorry. I apologise to everyone I have offended and am ready to make restitution." In a moment that drew cheers from worshippers, he knelt down, emphasising his humility and asking for prayers.Doris Ogala quickly responded on social media, sharing the video of the apology.
She forgave him, saying the gesture was "all I wanted," but pushed back on his suggestion that her claims were untrue. "Chris Okafor, I forgive you, but I have a problem with where you said everything is a lie because I don’t lie," she posted.
The saga has gripped social media, sparking debates about accountability, relationships, and public figures. While Pastor Okafor's gesture signals a desire to move forward, Ogala's mixed reaction shows the wounds may not heal overnight. As both sides call for peace, many are watching to see if this brings closure to the high-profile dispute.
