Wike Backs Tinubu for 2027 Victory, Warns Against Re-Electing Fubara

Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has thrown his full weight behind President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid in 2027, confidently predicting a win for the incumbent while issuing a stark warning about Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Speaking to stakeholders during a meeting in Okrika Local Government Area on January 3, Wike made it clear where his loyalties lie ahead of the next general elections. "We have made a firm decision as far as President Tinubu is concerned," he declared. "Tinubu will win in 2027." The former Rivers governor, who has been a key ally of the president since crossing party lines to support him in 2023, reiterated his unwavering commitment to the All Progressives Congress leader's Renewed Hope agenda.

But Wike saved his sharpest words for Governor Fubara, his successor and now bitter political rival amid the ongoing crisis in Rivers State. "The other one—no way," Wike said emphatically, referring to any chance of Fubara securing a second term. "If we give him that chance, if we make another mistake, he will bury all of us politically.

Then we will go and bury ourselves politically."The comments highlight the deepening rift between the two men, with Wike accusing Fubara of actions that could doom their political camp if he remains in power beyond 2027.

As Nigeria gears up for another heated election cycle, Wike's bold declarations are already stirring reactions across the political divide. Opposition figures in the Peoples Democratic Party have criticized him for openly backing Tinubu while still claiming PDP membership, but the FCT minister shows no signs of backing down.
