Over those six decades, she touched the lives of countless students, becoming a beloved fixture in the community. "I loved my job. I didn't mind getting up and going to school every day," Akin shared in a recent interview.

With her own family gone, she added that the school community had essentially become her family. The school celebrated her achievement with pride, renaming the library the Glenda Akin Library and installing a plaque that reads, "Her six decades of service to our school and community will remain forever cherished."
