Nigerian Troops Neutralize Three Suicide Bombers in Borno, Foiling Planned Attacks

Nigerian soldiers operating under Operation Hadin Kai have successfully taken out three terrorist suicide bombers in a swift, intelligence-led mission, preventing what could have been devastating strikes on civilian areas in Borno State.

The operation unfolded along the Guduf-Pulka axis in Gwoza Local Government Area, where troops, working closely with local volunteer forces, tracked down the suspects based on solid tips from human intelligence and communication intercepts. According to Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai, the bombers were intercepted before they could reach their targets.

During the encounter, soldiers recovered suicide vests loaded with improvised explosive devices, along with other IED components that were safely secured. The troops also engaged the armed escorts accompanying the bombers, inflicting heavy casualties and forcing the survivors to scatter into the Mandara Mountains.

In the follow-up sweep, four AK-47 rifles left behind by fleeing terrorists were seized, and two motorcycles they used were destroyed.Intelligence points to the bombers being sent from hideouts in the Mandara Mountains by the Ali Ngulde-led faction of Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad, a splinter group of Boko Haram known as JAS. Lt. Col. Uba emphasized that forces are ramping up efforts to dismantle these networks, combining enhanced surveillance with stronger ties to community volunteers and other security agencies across Borno and Yobe States.

This latest success highlights the ongoing pressure on remnants of Boko Haram and ISWAP in the region, as troops continue to protect vulnerable communities from suicide attacks and other threats. No civilian casualties were reported in this incident, and operations are intensifying to keep the momentum against terrorism.
