Soldiers from the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, operating under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, successfully thwarted a kidnapping plot and rescued three abducted individuals in Taraba State on January 5, 2026.
The swift intervention came after troops stationed in Jeb Jeb town received credible intelligence about suspected kidnappers moving through Sangai Village in Bachama Ward, Karim Lamido Local Government Area.
Acting quickly, the soldiers mobilized and gave chase, pursuing the suspects toward the border region between Taraba and Plateau States.Faced with the advancing military presence, the kidnappers panicked, abandoned their captives, and fled into the nearby bush.
The rescued victims — 25-year-old Nimron Umar Ab, 20-year-old Safaras Ibrahim (also reported as Abafaras Ibrahim), and 23-year-old Habila Yunusa — were found unharmed.The three are currently under military care, undergoing necessary medical checks and documentation before being reunited with their families.Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, praised his troops for their professionalism and rapid response.
He emphasized the brigade's ongoing commitment to intensive operations aimed at disrupting criminal networks and ensuring greater security across Taraba State.
This latest success highlights the military's efforts to combat rising insecurity in the region, where kidnapping and banditry have posed persistent challenges.
