Kamilu Salami, who was abducted 25 days ago by suspected bandits, has finally regained his freedom, bringing relief to his family and residents of his community. Salami was released on Tuesday after spending nearly four weeks in captivity under harsh conditions, according to family sources.
Speaking after his return, Salami’s younger brother, Musa Salami, confirmed the development and described it as an answered prayer. He said the family had lived in fear and uncertainty since the day.
The monarch, who was abducted on his farm, was released on Tuesday night. . “We are just grateful that he is alive. The past 25 days have been the longest of our lives,” Musa said.
A close associate of the family, Alhaji Sadiq Lawal, said Kamilu appeared weak but stable and has since been taken for medical checks. While details surrounding his release remain unclear, sources said efforts by community members and negotiations played a role.
Confirming the incident, the police said they were aware of Salami’s release and noted that investigations into the abduction were ongoing. Community leaders, including Chief Abdul Rasheed Ahmed, have called on security agencies to intensify patrols to curb the activities of bandits in the area.
Residents say Salami’s return has restored some hope, but fear remains as kidnappings continue to pose a serious threat to daily life.
