Gunmen Abduct Former Ogun Lawmaker, Hon. Moruf Musa, from Mosque in Daring Attack

In a shocking incident that has left residents reeling, armed gunmen stormed the home of former Ogun State House of Assembly member, Hon. Moruf Musa, and kidnapped him while he was observing evening prayers in a mosque within his compound. The abduction took place around 7:00 pm on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, in Ibiade, a community in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area. Witnesses say the attackers fired shots into the air to ward off anyone trying to intervene, and some locals reportedly sustained injuries in the chaos. One community source described how the ex-lawmaker put up a fierce struggle, fighting his captors for more than 20 minutes before they overpowered him and dragged him away into nearby bushes.Hon. Moruf Musa, who represented Ogun Waterside Constituency in the state's 6th Assembly and once served as Majority Leader and Chief Whip, is a prominent figure in the area. The brazen attack, happening right in his own home during a moment of prayer, has sparked outrage and fear among locals about growing insecurity in rural parts of Ogun State. Police have swung into action quickly. Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the incident and assured the public that the Anti-Kidnapping Unit has been deployed. "Security measures are fully activated, and we're doing everything to ensure his safe rescue," he said, urging calm while operations continue. Local leaders, including the Ogun Waterside LGA Chairman, Ganiyu Odunuki, are joining forces with officers to comb the surrounding areas. As of now, the kidnappers haven't made any demands, and the motive remains unclear. This latest case adds to concerns over frequent abductions in Nigeria, often linked to ransom-seeking gangs. Residents are hoping for swift intervention to bring Hon. Musa home safely.
