Ghanaians Rush to ‘Noah’s Ark’ as Prophet Predicts Christmas Day Flood

Panic and curiosity swept through parts of Ghana on Christmas Eve after a popular self-styled prophet, Apostle Samuel Kwadwo Mensah, warned that a devastating flood would strike the country on Christmas Day. The prophecy, shared during a late-night church service and amplified across social media, triggered an unusual rush of followers to a structure described by the prophet as a modern-day “Noah’s Ark.”

The wooden structure, located on the outskirts of Accra, was reportedly built under the direction of Apostle Mensah, founder of the Heaven’s Gate Restoration Ministry. By early morning, dozens of followers, some carrying bags of clothes, food items and children, gathered at the site, hoping to find safety from the foretold disaster.

“I don’t want to take chances,” said Ama Boateng, a trader who travelled from Kasoa with her two children. “The man of God has warned us before, and some of his words came to pass.”

However, the prophecy drew criticism from religious leaders and authorities. Reverend Daniel Owusu of the Christian Council of Ghana cautioned citizens against panic, urging them to rely on verified information. The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), through its spokesperson, Nana Kofi Asante, dismissed the prediction, stating that there were no weather forecasts indicating any imminent flooding.

Security personnel were later deployed to the area to maintain order as crowds continued to swell. As Christmas Day unfolded without any sign of flooding, many followers quietly left the site, while others insisted their faith had been tested, not shaken.
