Speaking with journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, the APC stalwart commended the Armed Forces of Nigeria under the leadership of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, for taking the fight directly to bandits terrorising communities, particularly in the North-West and North-Central regions. According to him, coordinated operations by the army, air force and other security agencies have disrupted criminal networks and restored confidence among affected residents.
He noted that President Tinubu’s support for the military, including improved welfare, better equipment and clearer operational directives, has boosted troop morale.
Nwosu also rejected calls in some quarters for dialogue or negotiation with bandits, insisting that criminal elements responsible for mass killings and abductions do not deserve such concessions.
“You don’t negotiate with people who invade communities, kill over 100 people and abduct children. They don’t negotiate when they are killing,” he stressed.
While urging the Federal Government to sustain the current military momentum, especially in states such as Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, Borno, Plateau and other flashpoints, the APC chieftain called on political leaders to adopt long-term thinking on national security and economic recovery.
“If banditry is crushed and agriculture is fully supported, Nigeria can become the food basket of Africa,” he said.
