Kidnappers Demand N100m Ransom for Two Abducted Osun Residents

Gunmen have demanded a staggering N100 million ransom for the release of two residents abducted from Ora-Igbomina, a border community in Ifedayo Local Government Area of Osun State.

The victims, identified as 'Tayese Adeyeye' and 'Sunday Adewumi', were reportedly whisked away by armed men who stormed a private home late on Sunday night, February 1, 2026. The incident has sent shockwaves through the quiet farming town, which sits along the boundary with Kwara State and has seen a troubling rise in insecurity in recent months.

Confirming the abduction and ransom demand, Comrade Omololu Abidoye, leader of the Ora-Igbomina Youth Front, expressed deep frustration and despair on behalf of the community. “The kidnappers have contacted us to demand N100 million ransom,” he said. “Where do we get that kind of money from? We are just farmers who love peace above all things.

The group highlighted that this latest attack follows earlier incidents, including the kidnapping of a retired customs officer in December 2025, raising fears that the failure to apprehend previous perpetrators has emboldened criminals. Residents say the community is living in chronic fear, with many questioning the effectiveness of security measures in the area.

Sources close to the victims' families told reporters that the abductors reached out directly with the hefty demand, though no further details on negotiations or police involvement have been publicly disclosed. Security operatives are said to have launched a manhunt for the gunmen, but the community continues to plead for urgent intervention to secure the safe return of Adeyeye and Adewumi.
