Police Arrest Notorious Cult Leader in Sokoto

The Nigeria Police have arrested a notorious cult leader in Sokoto State following a coordinated operation aimed at dismantling criminal networks in the region. The suspect, whose identity has not yet been disclosed by authorities, was apprehended in the early hours of Tuesday during a raid carried out by operatives of the State Police Command, acting on credible intelligence.

According to police sources, the arrested suspect is believed to be the alleged leader of a cult group that has been terrorizing parts of Sokoto and neighboring communities through acts of intimidation, violence, and other criminal activities. Residents had reportedly raised concerns over the group’s growing influence, prompting intensified surveillance and intelligence gathering by security agencies.

The Sokoto State Police Public Relations Officer confirmed the arrest, stating that the operation was conducted without casualties. Items suspected to be charms, weapons, and other incriminating materials were recovered during the raid. The suspect is currently in custody and undergoing interrogation to uncover the full extent of the group’s operations and identify other members.

The police assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that all those found to be connected to the cult’s activities will be brought to justice.
