Passengers Scream, Pray as Air Peace London–Abuja Flight Experiences Severe Turbulence

Passengers aboard an Air Peace flight from London to Abuja were thrown into panic on Tuesday after the aircraft encountered severe turbulence mid-air, prompting screams and prayers across the cabin. Eyewitnesses said the turbulence struck unexpectedly, causing the plane to shake violently for several minutes and forcing flight attendants to suspend in-flight service.

Some passengers were seen clutching their seats, while others prayed aloud as the aircraft dropped suddenly before stabilizing. A passenger who spoke after landing described the experience as “terrifying,” noting that many feared the plane would lose control. Overhead compartments reportedly rattled, and loose items fell inside the cabin.

Despite the frightening experience, the aircraft landed safely at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, with no injuries reported. Air Peace officials later reassured passengers that the turbulence was a natural weather-related occurrence and that the crew followed all standard safety procedures. Aviation experts also emphasized that turbulence, though unsettling, is common and rarely poses serious danger to modern aircraft.
