The council said the facility will not only make pharmaceutical service delivery interesting, timely and discrete, but would also help to solve problems of drug dispensing.
The Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) on Wednesday said it has put in place a policy to ensure that by 2019 all pharmaceutical activities in the country were e-compliant.
The Registrar council, Mr Elijah Mohammed, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Zaria, Kaduna State.
He said: “We are putting a policy in place to ensure that by 2019 everyone involved in pharmacy practice will be e-compliant in all their activities.”
Mohammed said the facility will not only make pharmaceutical service delivery interesting, timely and discrete, but would also help to solve problems associated with drug description and dispensing.
“Definitely e-pharmacy is going to enhance service delivery in hospitals by reducing the time patients wait to be attended to at the pharmacy department.
“Because everything about the department is e-compliant, so you will be able to track products from the supplier to the patients you are administering the drugs to,” he said.
While describing the computerisation as the in-thing, the registrar observed that there won’t be any opportunity and privilege for frauds in the system.
He assured that the council had improved its services to e-based in the area of registration of pharmacists, renewal of licenses, registration and renewal of premises.
According to him, the council uses e-pharmacy to drive the whole processes, apart from its Mandatory Continuing Education Programmes on the e-platform instead of the traditional classroom.
Mohammed said by adopting the information technology processes, things would be easier for everyone, noting that time management is very essential in daily activities.
