Manchester United manager Louis van Gaalhas brushed aside criticism from ex-playersRio Ferdinand and Paul Scholes following the team's defeat to Liverpool in the Europa League on Thursday night.
The Red Devils were outplayed by Liverpool, who sealed a 2-0 victory in the first leg of their last-16 tie at Anfield.
After the game, Scholes and Ferdinand, who were part of the punditry team for BT Sport's coverage of the match, were heavily critical of United's display.
Scholes described United's performance as'shambolic', while Ferdinand accused the team of lacking "fight".
When asked for his reaction to the duo's comments, Van Gaal told reporters: "Is it important what Rio Ferdinand is saying, is that important to you?
"You don't give your opinion and then you give Rio Ferdinand's opinion - that is very strong of you."
United need to beat Liverpool by three goals or more when they welcome their rivals to Old Trafford next Thursday for the return leg.
