Authorities in Plateau State have apprehended a Catholic priest over allegations of providing assorted weapons to criminal bandit groups operating withi the state and neighbouring regions.
Security sources confirmed that the cleric was taken into custody following an intelligence-led operation that uncovered his suspected involvement in distributing various calibres of firearms to armed gangs.
Investigators say the arrest is part of a broader crackdown on the illegal arms supply chain believed to be fuelling attacks across Plateau and surrounding states.
