Bandits abduct nine residents, injure one in Sokoto community


 Armed bandits attacked Tarah community in Sabon Birni local government area of Sokoto State, abducting nine residents and injuring one person.

The attack happened on Tuesday night just days after members of the community’s vigilante group were redeployed to Katsira, leaving Tarah exposed.

Local residents said youths quickly mobilised to confront the attackers, an action that helped prevent a more deadly outcome.

Speaking on the issue, the spokesman of the Sokoto State Police Command, DSP Ahmad Rufai, said the Divisional Police Officer in Sabon Birni had not yet briefed the state headquarters.

He added that as soon as he gets details of the attack, he will release appropriate information to the press.
