A statement issued by the Kaduna State Primary Health Care Development Agency says the exercise would run between July 6 and 11, 2017.
The Kaduna State Primary Health Care Development Agency, says it plans to immunise three million children age 0-5 against poliomyelitis within six days beginning from July 6, 2017.
The Deputy Director, Health Education, Hamza Ikara and State Coordinator, Journalists Initiative on Immunisation Against Polio (JAP), Lawal Dagara disclosed this in a statement they jointly signed and issued on Tuesday, July 4.
The statement said the exercise would run between July 6 and 11, 2017.
"It will be conducted on the streets, house-to-house and markets among others," it said, and urged parents and caregivers to avail their children for the vaccination.
"We call on parents to allow their children of 0-5 years to be immunized during the July IPDS," the statement said, stressing that vaccination would enable children grow healthier.
"The issue of polio is not over, parents must give all the needed support and cooperation by ensuring that no child is left out, ensure that every child is protected against the deadly polio virus.
"Parents should always see polio immunization as the only way toward ending polio in Nigeria.
"Adequate arrangement had been made for the smooth conduct of the exercise by the State Government, SPHCDA, Development Partners and other stakeholders," it said.
It added that during the exercise, a lot of interventions would be provided such as health camps in high risk areas.
The statement commended traditional rulers, religious leaders, journalist and other stakeholders for their support and urged them to maintain the tempo to achieve the desired result.
