Apple iPad Mini with Retina
display available now

Apple has started to accept pre-orders for
its iPad mini with Retina display tablet after an internal notification intended for
support technicians and resellers leaked
out. The company posted a note onto its
Global Service Exchange [GSX] that stated
it would become available in Australia,
China, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand,
Singapore, and the United States on
Tuesday, according to CNET. Following this the Apple Store site went
offline, as is procedure before a
significant release, and 12 November
saw it debut on sites in a number of
territories including those listed above as
well as the United Kingdom and Canada. On the UK Apple Store there is good
availability across both colours with the
16GB and 32GB Wi-Fi only version
shipping in one to three business days.
The 64GB and 128GB Wi-Fi only version as
well as all the Wi-Fi and Cellular models will take slightly longer to ship with
models expected to be with customers in
five to 10 business days. The Wi-Fi and Cellular version of the
device is available on EE, Three, O2, and
Vodafone with a range of plans on offer
depending on which network a customer
decides to go with. The new iPad mini with Retina display is
the first to feature the enhanced display
with an A7 64-bit processor
supplemented by an M7 coprocessor to
shoulder some of the workload. It has a
5-megapixel rear snapper, up to 10 hours of battery life and the only way it vastly
differs from the more expensive iPad Air
is its smaller 7.9in display. It remains to be seen how long Apple can
keep up with demand for the iPad mini
with Retina display after CEO Tim Cook admitted there being a shortage of retina display panels for the new device that could affects supplies over the festive
period.
